Skyler Transcoder solves the problems of market data integration. It takes in data from a range of sources and in a range of formats, converts it, then presents it for consumption by other applications. Think of it as a kind of translator for market data, connecting publishers to subscribers, converting data from one form to another as required, in real-time. Transcoder allows information buried in internal data systems to be published on a market data infrastructure. Transcoder can take the information in its internal format, convert it, and present it in a market data format for consumption by other applications. For example, position keeping or trade processing systems will store data in traditional databases. Information is retrieved via data queries rather than by publishing an updating market data stream to subscribing applications. Transcoder provides database adapters that transform database queries into messages tailored for the market data protocols. Changes in the databases will cause Transcoder to generate market data update messages. In addition to straightforward data transformation between formats, Transcoder can also enrich data content on the fly. This is done in conjunction with other Skyler products, such as Xpresso.
